Marina is technically trained in the chemical and biological sciences, having earned a bachelor's degree in biology from California State University at Long Beach in 1974 and a Ph.D. in physical chemistry from the University of Southern California in 1980. While working in an industrial environment doing research in fermentation biology, she attended Pace University School of Law from which she was graduated, cum laude, in 1986.

Since 1985 Marina has been practicing all aspects of intellectual property law including patent prosecution and litigation on a wide variety of technical subjects. This has included the writing of numerous patent applications for inventions relating to organic and inorganic chemistry, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and chemical engineering. In addition, Marina has served as both company IP counsel and underwriter's IP in connection with several offerings.


Ryan received a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, cum laude, from the Honors College at Michigan State University in 1999 and a J.D. from DePaul University College of Law in 2003.

Prior to law school, Ryan was a research assistant at the University of Colorado, in conjunction with NASA, studying the production of rocket fuel using indigenous Martian resources. Ryan also gained experience in fermentation technologies as an assistant brew master for the Mackinaw Brewing Company. During law school, Ryan gained valuable intellectual property experience serving as a federal judicial extern in the Northern District of Illinois, a summer associate in Chicago, a patent agent in New Zealand, the Symposiums editor for the DePaul Sports Law Journal, and as an intern at the Technology and Intellectual Property Clinic at DePaul.

Ryan's practice focuses on patent and trademark application preparation and prosecution and consultation regarding procurement, validity, infringement, and related concerns. Ryan has experience in a wide variety of technical areas including chemical and mechanical engineering, software, pharmaceuticals, human fluid chemistries, RFID devices, and plastics.

  • Allison earned a bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering, cum laude, from Case Western Reserve University in 2001. While at Case, Allison interned in the Musculoskeletal Mechanics and Materials Labs under Dr. Clare M. Rimnac, where she analyzed failed orthopaedic implants and fracture toughness of acrylic bone cement.

    After graduating from Case, Allison attended The University of Maryland School of Law, where she was selected for the student editorial board of The Business Lawyer. During law school, Allison completed an externship with the Cancer Branch of the Office of Technology Transfer at the National Institutes of Health where she reviewed invention disclosures, drafted licensing abstracts, and drafted and negotiated licensing agreements. She also participated in a clinical law program, counseling a variety of early stage high technology companies through the Maryland Intellectual Property Legal Resource Center.

    Before joining Larson & Anderson, LLC, Allison practiced in Washington, D.C. and Denver, CO.
